Wash Up & Pack House Manager
The Pack-House manager is responsible for the following duties:
Working closely with the harvest manager to plan day-to-day order fulfillment.
Post-harvest handling (washing & packing) with an eye for quality and cleanliness.
Keeping systems in place, or implementing new systems, that manage efficiencies in the pack-house.
Willingness to manage crew members in the pack-shed and direct workflow.
Management of pack-house inventory (boxes, liners, supplies etc..)
Keep updated harvest records and food safety records in conjunction with the harvest manager.
Ensure pack-house is cleaned at the end of every workday.
Work with the harvest team regularly, especially in the mornings.
During the early season the pack-house manager can expect to participate in other farm related tasks including: greenhouse work, transplanting, harvesting, general field work.
Full-time, Monday through Friday
7:00-5:30 + flexibility on late days (early season 8am-4pm~)
6 days/week for 6-8 weeks in September and October
1hr lunch (1/2 paid, 1/2 unpaid)
2 or more years of farming experience and relevant experience in the pack-house.
Ability to lift and carry heavy items; 50lbs+
Strong management and communication skills
An eye for detail and the ability to multi-task
Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Willingness to manage crew
$13-$15/hr dependent on experience
Weekly produce from the farm
2 paid days off
5 unpaid vacation days
To come to work on time and prepared for work
To have adequate work wear for any and all weather
To work well with others and alert your manager of any issues in a timely manner
To understand that weather and orders dictate our hours at work. You will be required to stay late if necessary, both because you are part of a team and because farming is in itself dictated by weather. (ex: If there is a storm coming we may work late to get crops in from the field. If orders are larger than expected we will work late to fill them.)
